At Farrah Farms, we believe in and apply regenerative farming practices while using organic methods and standards. Our particular emphasis is on the practice of composting, improving soil biodiversity, and minimal soil disturbance. We are stewards of the land, with intent to improve the soil while harvesting nutritional produce for our community.
During 2020, Zack started to grow basil microgreens for his own consumption during his break from restaurant work. He took the opportunity to start approaching local food carts, cafes and restaurants to sell his microgreens to, and Farrah Farms was started. Indoor vertical farming was a great success, but the broader vision was to get back to his farming roots and get his hands dirty. We broke ground at our new property in Molalla, OR in the winter of 2023, and continue to farm, learn, and grow everyday. We currently operate on 2 acres of farmland under yearly production, along with rotational livestock used for grazing and land improvement.
Our furry, beloved four-legged mascot at Farrah Farms and the reason why we do what we do. She is a rescued American Staffordshire Terrier, originally from Pennsylvania, and twelve years old. She enjoys rolling and running around in the grass, watching over the chickens and giving you nothin' but love and good energy.
Zack was born in Long Island, New York and grew to love farming and tending to crops through his family's farm; later moving to NYC in 2009 and graduating ICE Culinary School in 2017. He spent the 2022 season as an intern with Lil' Starts Farm, where he learned the specifics of growing produce in the PNW. His favorite vegetables are cucumbers, radishes and beets. You can find him singing songs from musicals like Wicked, Little Shop of Horrors and Hairspray when you visit the farm.

We met in 2010 and adopted Farrah in 2016. After years of city living, we decided to head somewhere that's green to give Farrah a more relaxed life here in Oregon.
