For our 2025 season, we are seeking reliable, passionate, hardworking, and detail-oriented people to join our farm crew. Ideal candidates should enjoy physical labor, possess a strong interest in food and farming, be able to receive direct, on-the-spot feedback, appreciate working as part of a team, and be able to perform tasks alone. Farm Crew members will participate in all areas of vegetable production from seeding, transplanting, weeding, crop care, harvesting, washing, and packing. You will work with your hands, as well as use farm tools, bend, stretch, squat, and carry heavy items during the day in hot, cold, and wet conditions. We are a queer owned farm and our workplace is 100% drug and alcohol free.
This job reports to: Farm Owner, Farm Manager
Employment Period: April 15th - October 31st. Must be able to join by April 29th, and possibility for limited work past October.
Hours/Schedule:
April & May: 8am - 3:30pm
June - September: 7am - 3:30pm
October: 8am - 3:30pm
Farm Crew Position #1 - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Farm Crew Position #2 (a) - Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
Farm Crew Position #2 (b) - Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
*Possibility for extra hours assisting us at market booth on weekends*
Compensation:
- $16 - $18 DOE starting hourly pay (cash)
- Sick pay accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours
- Gear stipend of $200
- End-of-season bonus based on hours worked
- Produce available to take home
- Gatorade, Iced tea and La Croix available during your shift
- Cost of Living annual raise for returning employees
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Proper harvest and post-harvest handling of a large variety of vegetable crops
- Communicating general crop health or other observations made while harvesting to farm owner and farm manager
- Packing CSA boxes, market produce and restaurant orders
- Transplanting both mechanically and by hand
- Weed control
- Irrigation installation and repair
- Using a wheelbarrow for moving crops/compost/woodchips
- Crop care – trellising, season extension, pest and disease management
- Washing and sanitizing microgreen trays and storage bins
- Cleaning and maintenance of facilities and grounds
- Be able to assist with CSA drop offs or restaurant deliveries (driving)
- Various odd jobs (brush cutting, T-Post pounding, cleaning equipment and supplies, and others)
- Seasonal projects (re-skinning greenhouses, care of existing infrastructure and facilities, light carpentry work)
- For those interested there may be opportunities to work with our livestock which includes animal feeding, housing and water, collecting and cleaning eggs
General Requirements for Job Position:
- Have dependable transportation and the ability to get to work on time
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainable farming
- Have a working cell phone for communications
- Be able to follow instructions and pay attention to details
- Be able to commit to staying the duration of the season.
- Be able to perform manual work in all weather conditions (rain, heat, snow etc.
- Be able to keep a positive attitude, even amid challenges
- Respect for all staff and appreciate their work and contributions
- Self-motivation to do a quality job in an efficient way
- Keep track of speed of work and strive for efficiency
- Work well with others and have experience working as part of a team.
- Ask for additional information if directions seem inadequate or unclear
- Responsive to feedback from supervisors and co-workers
Skills & Qualifications:
- One season full-time production vegetable farming experience or equivalent
- Be able to stand on your feet for your entire shift, as well as having flexibility to bend over for certain tasks (transplanting/harvesting)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
Bonus Skills (but not required):
- Restaurant, farmers market, or grocery store experience
- BCS/Jang Seeder/Paperpot experience
- Management experience
